A message from our Director: Janus Galleries is thrilled to be the exclusive representative for this incredibly talented artist. I have collected Onelio’s works for years, and he is truly a master of not only painting, but etching and sculpture as well. We carry only a handful of living artists because we are very selective. Onelio’s paintings are works of beauty and emotion. His interiors are lively, the ocean scenes almost life-like, and we believe that no living painter has the same refined brushwork and amazing treatment of water. (You may be tempted to jump into his work, so be careful!) Onelio is generous and daring with color, yet many of his works have a gentle subtlety. The artist is always eager to jump into unknown territory and new themes. We look forward to what’s around the corner. Please enjoy these images, and you’ll see what we mean. Peter Lundberg, Director Biography: Onelio Marrero (Cuban/American) b. 1958 Onelio Marrero was born in Cuba in 1958 and emigrated to the U.S.A. during his early childhood. His family settled in Union City, New Jersey where he lived until he married his wife Lisette. He studied painting, drawing, sculpture and print-making at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1980. He has exhibited his work in one-man shows and group shows throughout the metropolitan area. His work has hung in The Ariel Gallery in New York City, The National Arts Club in New York City, The City Without Walls Gallery in Newark, The Blackwell Street Center for the Arts Gallery in Dover, and The Atrium Gallery of the Administration and Records Building in Morristown. His work can also be found in several private collections in the U.S. and Europe. An art teacher at Mendham High School since 1986, Mr. Marrero is a Geraldine R. Dodge Artist/Educator Fellow. He divides his time between his family, his art and his teaching. He currently lives in Rockaway, New Jersey with his wife and three daughters.
